Little Bear lived in a snug little cabin, deep in the woods. It wasn't a big cabin, but it was *just* right for him. The walls were made of warm wood, and a little stone fireplace kept it cozy. Tonight, the wind was whispering outside, but Little Bear wasn't scared. He knew his cabin would keep him safe and warm.
Mama Bear had made a yummy dinner of berries and honey. Little Bear ate every bite! After dinner, she tucked him into his little bed, which was piled high with soft blankets and a fluffy pillow. "Time for sleep, my little one," she said, giving him a gentle hug.
Little Bear looked out the window. The trees were swaying gently, and the moon was shining bright. He could hear the hoot of an owl and the chirping of crickets. It was a peaceful sound, a sleepy sound.
He snuggled deeper under the blankets. He thought about all the fun he had today – playing hide-and-seek with the squirrels, splashing in the cool stream, and collecting shiny pebbles. Being in the woods made him feel happy and calm.
Mama Bear sat by his bed and hummed a quiet tune. It was a song about the stars and the trees and the sleepy forest animals. Little Bear’s eyelids started to feel heavy. He loved the feeling of being safe and loved in his cozy cabin.
He imagined he was a little seed, tucked safely into the earth, waiting for springtime. Or maybe a little fish, swimming peacefully in a quiet pond. Everything felt calm and still.
The fire crackled softly in the fireplace, casting dancing shadows on the walls. Little Bear closed his eyes and took a deep breath. He smelled the woodsmoke and the sweet scent of pine needles. It was the best smell in the world.
Mama Bear kissed his forehead. “Sleep tight, Little Bear,” she whispered. “Sweet dreams.” Little Bear smiled, even with his eyes closed. He knew he was loved, he was safe, and he was home. He drifted off to sleep, dreaming of sunny days and cozy nights in his little cabin in the woods.
