Barnaby Bear loved his little cabin in the woods. It wasn’t a fancy cabin, not at all! It was made of smooth, grey stones and warm, brown wood, and smelled like pine needles and honey. Every evening, as the sun began to set, Barnaby would get ready for bed. But sometimes, even in his cozy cabin, Barnaby felt a little…wiggly.
Tonight was one of those nights. He’d played all day with his friends, Hazel Hedgehog and Finley Fox, building a magnificent fort of leaves. Now, his paws felt tingly, and his mind was full of rustling leaves and playful chases. He tossed and turned in his bed of soft moss and dandelion fluff.
“What’s wrong, little bear?” Mama Bear asked, gently stroking his fur. “You seem a bit restless.”
“I just…I can’t seem to settle,” Barnaby mumbled. “My mind is too busy!”
Mama Bear smiled. “Sometimes, when our minds are busy, we need to listen to the quiet things. Come with me.” She led Barnaby to the window. Outside, the woods were bathed in the soft glow of the moon.
“Listen,” Mama Bear whispered. Barnaby closed his eyes and listened. He heard the gentle hoot of an owl, a soft breeze rustling through the trees, and the tiny chirps of crickets. He heard the little stream gurgling nearby, like a sleepy song.
“The woods are always talking, Barnaby,” Mama Bear explained. “They’re telling stories of peace and quiet. Let their sounds fill your mind instead of your wiggles.”
Barnaby took a deep breath, smelling the sweet scent of pine. He focused on the sounds, letting them wash over him like a warm wave. He imagined the owl watching over the forest, the breeze tucking the trees into bed, and the stream singing a lullaby.
Slowly, Barnaby’s wiggles began to fade. His paws felt less tingly, and his mind grew calm. He realized that even though he loved playing, he also loved the quiet peace of the woods.
Mama Bear tucked him back into his mossy bed. “Sometimes, the best way to find comfort is to listen to the world around you,” she said. “And remember, your cozy cabin is always here, waiting to welcome you with peace and warmth.”
Barnaby snuggled deep under his dandelion fluff blanket. He listened to the sounds of the woods, feeling safe and loved. He closed his eyes, and soon, he was fast asleep, dreaming of leaf forts and peaceful nights in his cozy cabin. The cabin felt extra cozy, and Barnaby knew he would have sweet dreams until morning.
