Cinderella and the Lost Kitten: A Sweet Bedtime Story

Cinderella wasn't having a very easy day. Her stepmother had asked her to clean every single room in the house, and her stepsisters were being particularly unkind. But Cinderella didn't complain. She knew that even when things were hard, being kind was always the right thing to do.

As she swept the porch, she heard a tiny, sad meow. Peeking under a rose bush, she found a little kitten, all alone and shivering. It was a fluffy ball of grey fur with big, worried eyes. "Oh, you poor thing!" Cinderella whispered, gently scooping up the kitten.

The kitten was very small and seemed lost. Cinderella knew she had to help. She carefully carried the kitten inside, ignoring her stepmother’s calls to hurry with the cleaning. She gave the kitten a little saucer of milk and a soft cloth to lie on.

Her stepsisters giggled. “What are you doing with that scruffy creature, Cinderella? You should be cleaning!” But Cinderella didn’t pay attention. She was too busy comforting the kitten. She noticed a small, silver bell around its neck with a tiny address etched onto it.

“I think this little one has a home,” Cinderella said. “Let’s find it!” Her stepmother sighed dramatically, but even she couldn’t argue with Cinderella’s determined face. Together, Cinderella, the kitten, and even her stepsisters (who were secretly a little curious) walked down the lane.

They followed the address to a cozy little cottage. A kind old woman opened the door, her face lighting up when she saw the kitten. “Snowdrop! Oh, Snowdrop, you’re safe!” she cried, hugging the kitten tightly. “I’ve been searching everywhere for her!”

The old woman was so grateful. She offered Cinderella a warm apple pie, still smelling of cinnamon. “You are a very kind girl,” she said. “Snowdrop means the world to me, and you brought her home. That is a truly special gift.”

Cinderella’s stepmother and stepsisters were surprised. They hadn’t expected such a warm welcome. They even shared a slice of pie! As they walked home, Cinderella felt a warm glow inside. It wasn’t just the pie; it was the feeling of helping someone in need.

Even though her chores were still waiting, Cinderella didn’t mind so much. She learned that even a small act of kindness, like helping a lost kitten, could bring happiness to others and make her own day brighter. And sometimes, being kind is the most magical thing of all.

That night, as Cinderella drifted off to sleep, she dreamed of fluffy kittens and warm apple pie, knowing that a little kindness could go a long way. And she knew, deep in her heart, that even when things were difficult, she would always choose to be kind.
