Barnaby Bear was a very tiny baby bear. It was almost bedtime, and Mama Bear was getting him ready for sweet dreams. First, she gave him a warm bath with bubbly soap that smelled like blueberries. Barnaby splashed and giggled, but Mama Bear reminded him, “Gentle splashes, little one. Soon it will be time to rest.”
After his bath, Mama Bear wrapped Barnaby in a soft, fluffy towel. She held him close and whispered, “Now, let’s say goodnight to the moon.” Barnaby looked out the window and saw the big, round moon smiling down at them. “Goo’night, Moon!” he bubbled.
“And goodnight to the twinkling stars!” Mama Bear said. Barnaby pointed at the stars, his little paws reaching. “Stars! Goo’night!” He loved the sparkly stars.
Next, they said goodnight to Barnaby’s favorite toy, a little wooden duck. “Goo’night, Ducky!” Barnaby patted Ducky with his paw. Then, they said goodnight to the cozy rocking chair. “Goo’night, Chair!” Mama Bear gently rocked Barnaby back and forth.
“Let’s say goodnight to the flowers in the garden,” Mama Bear suggested. They peeked out the window at the sleepy flowers, closing their petals for the night. “Goo’night, Flowers!” Barnaby whispered.
Mama Bear continued, “And goodnight to the birds in their nests, goodnight to the fireflies blinking their lights, and goodnight to the gentle breeze.” Barnaby listened carefully, feeling sleepy with each goodnight.
Finally, Mama Bear held Barnaby close and said, “Now, goodnight to Mama Bear.” Barnaby snuggled into her warm fur and yawned a big, sleepy yawn. “Goo’night, Mama,” he mumbled.
Mama Bear kissed Barnaby’s forehead. “Sweet dreams, my little bear. Remember how much you are loved, and how many wonderful things are around you, even when you sleep.” She hummed a soft lullaby, and Barnaby closed his eyes, drifting off to sleep, filled with peaceful thoughts and happy goodnights.
