The Little Mermaid's Peaceful Dream

« Back to Topic

3 min read ・ Age 8

In a shimmering kingdom beneath the waves, lived a little mermaid named Coral. Coral wasn't like the other mermaids. While they spent their days playing in the coral reefs and singing joyful songs, Coral longed for something more.

She yearned to understand the world above the water, to see the colorful skies and the creatures that lived on the land. She felt different, and this made her feel a little sad.

One day, a gentle sea turtle, named Sheldon, drifted by. He’d seen Coral gazing longingly at the surface. 'Why such a thoughtful face, little Coral?' he asked.

Coral confided in Sheldon, explaining her wish to see the world above. Sheldon listened patiently, his wise eyes twinkling. 'The world above is wondrous,' he said, 'but also full of unknowns.'

Sheldon, a kind and wise creature, continued, 'But kindness, and understanding others, are treasures that can be found anywhere. Even in places you might not expect.'

Over the next few days, Sheldon and Coral spent time together, exploring the wonders of the ocean floor. Sheldon taught Coral about the beauty in different species of fish, the delicate dance of the sea creatures, and the importance of respecting their environment.

He told her stories of the friendly dolphins who sometimes visited their shores, and the playful sea otters who lived further along. Coral began to see the world in a new light.

She learned that the other mermaids weren't wrong, their songs and games were special, but her longing to understand the human world was perfectly valid.

Coral realized that she didn’t have to change who she was to understand or appreciate others.

One evening, as the sun dipped below the horizon, painting the sky in hues of orange and purple, Coral watched the waves gently lap against the shore. She felt a sense of peace. She understood that she could be different and still be happy.

Sheldon swam beside her. 'You've discovered a wonderful treasure today, Coral,' he said. 'The treasure of acceptance and understanding.'

Coral smiled, feeling the joy and peace settle deep in her heart. She knew that friendship and kindness weren't about fitting in, but about embracing differences and celebrating them.

As Coral drifted off to sleep, she dreamt of the colorful world above, not as a place of longing, but as a place of curiosity and acceptance. She felt a warmth spreading through her heart, knowing she had discovered something special within herself and in her relationship with Sheldon.

From that day on, Coral continued to appreciate her own unique qualities and the wonders of her underwater kingdom. She embraced her unique nature, and discovered even more joy in her friendships and surroundings.

And so, the little mermaid, Coral, found true peace, surrounded by the love and acceptance of her underwater community.
