Lily was a little girl with hair like spun gold. It was so long and thick, it tumbled down her back like a shimmering waterfall. But Lily’s amazing hair had a problem – it tangled easily! Every morning, brushing it was a big adventure, often ending in frustrated tears.
One sunny afternoon, Lily was playing in the garden with her best friend, Tom. They were building a magnificent castle out of twigs and leaves. Suddenly, a playful gust of wind blew, swirling Lily’s hair around and around until it became a giant, golden knot. She couldn't move!
Lily tried everything she could think of. She tugged and pulled, but the knots just got tighter. Tom tried to help, carefully untangling small sections, but the task seemed impossible. Tears welled up in Lily’s eyes. This was a BIG tangle!
Just then, a wise old owl perched on a nearby branch. 'Hoo-hoo,' the owl hooted. 'Why the long face, little one?'
Lily explained her problem. The owl listened patiently, then said, 'Sometimes, the best way to untangle a knot is to ask for help. And sometimes, you need the right tools!'
The owl flew off and returned with a tiny, shiny pair of scissors and a special comb made of smooth, polished wood. The owl showed Lily how to carefully cut away some of the particularly tight knots, making the rest much easier to untangle with the special comb.
With the owl's help, and Tom's gentle hands, they slowly worked through the tangle. It took time and patience, but little by little, Lily's hair became free again. It was still long and beautiful, just a little less knotted.
Lily hugged the owl and thanked Tom. She realized that asking for help wasn't a sign of weakness, but a sign of strength. And she learned that even the biggest problems can be solved with a little patience, the right tools, and a good friend.
From that day on, Lily continued to have a lot of hair, but she learned to braid it every night to keep it from getting so tangled. She also remembered that it was always okay to ask for help when she needed it, and she always tried to help her friends too. And that made her feel very happy indeed.
