Rosie Red loved wearing her bright red hooded cape. Her Grandma Willow had made it for her, and Rosie wore it everywhere! Today, Rosie’s mom asked her for a special favor. “Old Man Tiber, the baker, needs help delivering cookies to some neighbors who are feeling a little under the weather,” Mom said. “Would you be a good helper and take the basket for him?”

Rosie’s mom carefully explained the route. “First, Mrs. Gable on Sunny Street. Then, Mr. Fitzwilliam by the big oak tree. And finally, little Leo at the blue house. Be careful crossing the street, and remember to smile!” Rosie promised she would be very careful and set off with the basket, which smelled wonderfully of cinnamon and sugar.

The path to Mrs. Gable’s house was sunny and bright. Rosie skipped along, imagining how happy the cookies would make Mrs. Gable. When she arrived, Mrs. Gable was so pleased! “Oh, Rosie Red, how thoughtful of you to bring these! They smell delicious.” Rosie beamed and continued on her way.

Next, she walked towards the big oak tree where Mr. Fitzwilliam lived. A little squirrel darted across her path, and Rosie had to stop quickly! It was a little scary, but she remembered to take a deep breath and continue carefully. Mr. Fitzwilliam was reading in his garden. He thanked Rosie with a warm smile and a story about the birds that visited his bird feeder.

Finally, Rosie reached the blue house where little Leo lived. Leo was building a tower of blocks, but it kept tumbling down. He looked a little sad. Rosie gave him a cookie and a big smile. “These are from Old Man Tiber!” she said. Leo’s face lit up. He shared his cookie with his teddy bear and started building his tower again, this time with a little more confidence.

As Rosie walked home, she felt a warm glow inside. It wasn’t just from the sunshine; it was from helping others. She realized that even a small act of kindness, like delivering cookies, could make a big difference. When she returned to Old Man Tiber, he thanked her with a special gingerbread heart.

“You were a wonderful helper, Rosie Red,” he said. “You delivered not just cookies, but also smiles and cheer.” Rosie hugged her red cape tightly. She knew that being kind and helpful was the best adventure of all. And as she drifted off to sleep that night, she dreamed of all the ways she could spread kindness tomorrow.
