Little Ruby loved visiting her Grandma! Grandma lived in a cozy cottage at the edge of Sunny Meadow. One sunny morning, Ruby’s mama baked a basket full of yummy blueberry muffins for Grandma. “Ruby,” Mama said, “Please take these to Grandma, but stay on the path. Don’t talk to strangers, and be careful!”

Ruby promised she would. She skipped happily along the path, enjoying the bright flowers and buzzing bees. A fluffy squirrel chattered from a tree. “Hello, Squirrel!” Ruby called. The squirrel just flicked its tail and scampered away.

Soon, Ruby met a friendly fox. The fox smiled a big, wide smile. “Hello, Little Ruby! Where are you going?” Ruby remembered what her mama said. She didn’t stop to chat. She just smiled politely and kept walking quickly on the path.

The fox tried to suggest a shortcut through the woods to pick pretty wildflowers for Grandma. “Oh, but Mama said to stay on the path,” Ruby reminded herself. She knew Mama wanted her to be safe.

As Ruby walked, she noticed the path was getting a little bumpy. She carefully stepped over a root and around a puddle. She was being very careful, just like Mama asked!

Finally, Ruby arrived at Grandma’s cottage. Grandma was so happy to see her! “Oh, Ruby, you are a good girl for remembering to stay safe and follow the path!” Grandma said, giving Ruby a warm hug.

They shared the blueberry muffins and had a lovely afternoon. Ruby learned that listening to her mama and being careful helped her have a wonderful adventure. And that made her feel very happy and safe.

Before Ruby went home, Grandma reminded her, “Always remember, sweetie, staying on the path and listening to grown-ups keeps you safe and sound.” Ruby smiled and promised she would. She waved goodbye to Grandma and skipped happily home, knowing she had done a very good job.
