A Princess Who Loved to Play

« Back to Topic

2 min read ・ Age 4

Princess Lily loved playing. But unlike the other princesses, who spent their days with elaborate games of etiquette and fancy dances, Lily preferred to build forts in the woods, swing on the highest branches, and chase butterflies with her friends.

The other princesses whispered about Lily, calling her 'unladylike' and 'not refined.' Lily didn't mind. She had her own special friends: a wise old owl named Professor Hoot, a playful squirrel named Pip, and a kind little frog named Freddie.

One day, the royal court hosted a grand ball, where Princesses would showcase their skills in the perfect curtsies and complicated dances. Lily felt a pang of sadness as her friends watched from the nearby meadow. She missed them.

But then, she realized something. Her friends were her special kind of beautiful. They didn't need fancy dresses or complicated dances; they found joy in simple things like chasing sunbeams and making funny faces. Lily smiled; perhaps her joy was different, but no less valid or beautiful than the other princesses'.

She invited her friends to the ball. Professor Hoot brought a branch to be used as a special wand; Pip brought a bouquet of colorful flowers; and Freddie, well, Freddie brought a mischievous twinkle in his eye. The other princesses were surprised.

At first, they didn't understand Lily's friends, but as they watched the friends play amongst the flowers and dance in their own unique ways, the princesses realized that it was a form of playfulness worthy of recognition.

Lily and her friends joined the other princesses on the dance floor. Lily, with her own unique brand of grace and humour, twirled with the other princesses as they laughed and danced with their own unique style.

That day, Princess Lily and her friends learned a lesson about true beauty and joy. They discovered that friendship and playfulness were just as important – and maybe even more special – than any fancy ball.

And from that day forward, Lily and her friends were beloved, not for following the rules, but for being themselves; a perfect lesson for any princess, or anyone, to take with them to the next party or adventure.

The princesses realized that true joy and beauty comes from within, and that different kinds of play could make for lovely company.
