Captain Calico Jack wasn't your typical pirate. Instead of searching for gold, Captain Calico Jack and his crew searched for the shiniest seashells and the most colorful starfish. They sailed their tiny toy boat across the bathtub sea, giggling as the waves – really just splashes – rocked them gently.
One night, they were having a sleepover on the deck of their boat. First Mate Polly wanted to tell spooky stories, but Captain Calico Jack knew that scary stories weren't very good for bedtime. "Avast, ye!" he boomed, in his friendliest pirate voice. "Tonight, we're having a kindness sleepover!"
Polly frowned. "But Captain, what's the fun in that?"
Captain Calico Jack smiled. "There's lots of fun! We can help each other find the softest blankets, share our yummy pirate snacks (pretend, of course!), and sing lullabies about mermaids!"
The crew agreed. They helped each other choose comfy spots, sharing their 'treasure' of sparkly stickers. They took turns reading funny pirate stories, and even helped each other brush their teeth before bed. They discovered that helping each other made the sleepover much more fun than telling scary stories.
Even though they were pirates, they followed a few rules to make sure everyone got a good night's sleep. They kept their voices low after story time, turned off their lanterns (that were really glow sticks!), and snuggled together under their pirate-themed blankets.
Sleepy yawns rippled through the crew. Soon, they were all fast asleep, dreaming of sunny beaches and even shinier seashells. Captain Calico Jack learned that being a kind and helpful pirate captain was even better than finding any treasure chest!
The next morning, they woke up feeling refreshed and ready for more adventures, proving that even pirates need a good night's sleep to be their best selves. And that's why, even if you're a pirate, you should always make sure to get plenty of rest before embarking on any adventure!
