Leo the little lion wasn't very excited about bedtime. He loved playing all day! But tonight, Mama Lion brought out something special: brand new pajamas! They were soft and blue, with little stars all over them. Leo wrinkled his nose. “Pajamas are silly!” he grumbled.
Mama Lion smiled. “Pajamas aren’t silly, Leo. They’re cozy! They tell your body it’s time to rest and dream.” She helped Leo put them on. They felt… actually quite nice. Soft against his fur. But Leo still wasn’t convinced bedtime was fun.
Down the hall, Leo heard a tiny sniffle. It was Penelope the penguin, and she was upset. “I can’t find my favorite pajamas!” she cried. “The ones with the little fishies!” Leo remembered Penelope loved those pajamas. He thought about how much *he* liked his new, soft ones, even if he didn’t want to admit it.
Leo quickly took off his brand new pajamas. Penelope’s eyes widened. “Leo! What are you doing?” Leo ran back to his room and grabbed his *old* pajamas, the ones he’d outgrown but were still perfectly good. He hurried to Penelope’s room.
“Here,” Leo said, handing her the pajamas. “You can have these until you find yours. They’re a little big, but they’re comfy!” Penelope’s face lit up. “Oh, Leo! Thank you! You’re so kind!” She gave him a big hug.
Suddenly, Leo didn’t mind his own pajamas being off. Helping Penelope felt *good*. Mama Lion peeked into the hallway. “That was a very kind thing to do, Leo,” she said, smiling. “Now, let’s get you back into your cozy pajamas.”
Leo happily put on his blue star pajamas. They felt even softer now. He realized Mama Lion was right. Pajamas *did* feel special. And being kind felt even more special than that! He snuggled into bed, feeling warm and comfortable.
“These pajamas are pretty great,” Leo whispered. Mama Lion tucked him in. “They are, and so are you. Sweet dreams, my little lion.” Leo closed his eyes, thinking about Penelope and her fishy pajamas. He knew that even though playtime was fun, a cozy bedtime with kind thoughts was the best part of the day.
