Little Bear was getting ready for bed. He snuggled close to Mama Bear and said, "Mama, what *is* love?"
Mama Bear smiled. "Love is a warm feeling in your heart, Little Bear. It's showing others how much you care." She gave him a big hug. "That's one way to show love!"
Little Bear thought hard. "How else?"
"Well," said Papa Bear, who was reading a story, "Love is sharing. Remember when you shared your berries with Rosie Rabbit yesterday? That was love!"
Little Bear giggled. He *did* love sharing berries, especially the juicy red ones. He remembered Rosie Rabbit’s happy face. That *did* feel warm and good.
"Love is also being kind," added Mama Bear. "Like when you helped Grandma Bear carry her flowers. That made her so happy!"
Little Bear remembered carefully carrying the bright yellow flowers, trying not to drop a single petal. Grandma Bear had given him a sweet honey treat as thanks.
"And love is saying kind words," Papa Bear chimed in. "Telling someone you appreciate them, or that they make you happy."
Little Bear looked at his Mama and Papa. "I love you both very much! You make me happy when you read me stories and give me hugs."
Mama Bear and Papa Bear both hugged Little Bear tightly. "We love you too, Little Bear! More than all the honey in the world!"
Little Bear yawned. He realized love wasn't just one thing. It was lots of little things, all mixed together – hugs, sharing, kindness, and sweet words.
He snuggled between his Mama and Papa, feeling warm and safe. "I think I know what love is now," he whispered.
"And what is it, Little Bear?" Mama Bear asked softly.
"Love is… everything!" Little Bear said, and drifted off to sleep, dreaming of berries, flowers, and lots and lots of hugs.
