Once upon a time, in a little house nestled in the woods, lived a family of bears: Papa Bear, Mama Bear, and Baby Bear. One sunny morning, Mama Bear made some delicious porridge for breakfast. But it was too hot to eat! So, the Three Bears decided to go for a walk in the woods while it cooled.
Not far away, a little girl named Goldilocks was taking a walk too. She had lovely golden hair. She walked and walked until she saw a little house she had never seen before. It looked empty, so she peeped inside. Nobody was there! Feeling curious, Goldilocks went in. On the table were three bowls of porridge.
First, she tasted the big bowl. "Ow!" she said, "This porridge is too hot!" Next, she tasted the middle-sized bowl. "Brrr," she shivered, "This porridge is too cold!" Then, she tasted the little bowl. "Mmm," she smiled, "This porridge is just right!" And she ate it all up.
After eating, Goldilocks looked around. She saw three chairs. First, she sat in the big chair. "This chair is too hard!" she said. Next, she sat in the middle-sized chair. "This chair is too soft!" she said. Then, she sat in the little chair. "This chair is just right!" she giggled, and she rocked back and forth gently.
Feeling a little sleepy now, Goldilocks went upstairs. She saw three beds. First, she lay on the big bed. "This bed is too hard!" she said. Next, she lay on the middle-sized bed. "This bed is too soft!" she said. Then, she lay on the little bed. "This bed is just right!" she sighed, and she snuggled down and fell fast asleep.
Soon, the Three Bears came home from their walk. Papa Bear looked at his bowl. "Someone has been eating my porridge!" he rumbled. Mama Bear looked at her bowl. "Someone has been eating my porridge!" she said. Baby Bear looked at his little bowl. "Someone has been eating my porridge, and they ate it all up!" he whimpered.
Then they saw the chairs. Papa Bear said, "Someone has been sitting in my chair!" Mama Bear said, "Someone has been sitting in my chair!" Baby Bear said, "Someone has been sitting in my chair, and it feels wobbly!" The Three Bears went upstairs. Papa Bear said, "Someone has been lying in my bed!" Mama Bear said, "Someone has been lying in my bed!" And Baby Bear looked at his little bed and saw Goldilocks! "Someone has been lying in my bed, and here she is!" he called out.
Goldilocks woke up with a start and saw the Three Bears looking at her. She was very surprised! Quickly, she jumped out of bed and ran down the stairs, out of the house, and all the way home. The Three Bears were just surprised to find her there. Goldilocks learned that it is always best to stay out of houses that aren't yours and to only visit when you are invited. And she always remembered the little house where everything was 'just right', except for being there without asking!
