The little star, Twinkle, wasn't feeling sleepy. Her tummy rumbled with a tiny, worried growl. Her bedroom, usually a cozy haven of soft blankets and comforting pillows, felt a bit empty and noisy tonight.
Twinkle snuggled under her fluffy blanket, trying to ignore the buzzing of the night-light firefly, Flicker. Flicker zipped around the room, illuminating each corner with a gentle glow. Twinkle wished she could feel as calm as Flicker.
She closed her eyes tight, and took a deep breath, in through her nose and out through her mouth. She imagined her breath flowing like a soft stream, carrying away all the little worries that had been swirling in her mind.
Twinkle thought about the fuzzy clouds drifting by above her window. Each cloud looked like a different animal – a fluffy sheep, a playful puppy, or a sleepy kitty. She imagined herself as a little cloud, floating gently with the breeze.
She focused on the feeling of her soft, warm blanket. She imagined the comforting scent of her favourite teddy bear, cuddled tightly beside her.
She noticed the gentle rhythm of her heart beating, a steady, quiet drum. And she realized that even when worries felt big, her heart was strong and calm.
Twinkle imagined a beautiful rainbow arching across her sky. She breathed in the gentle colours of the rainbow – soft pinks, purples, and blues. Each breath made her feel more and more relaxed.
She pictured herself surrounded by warm golden light, a soft glow that wrapped around her. A warm feeling spread through her body, making her eyelids heavy and her mind quiet.
The buzzing of Flicker faded to a gentle hum, and the worries in her tummy settled down. Twinkle felt a deep, calming peace settle over her. She smiled gently.
Soon, a sleepy yawn stretched her smile into a warm contentment. The room was dark now, and quiet. Twinkle drifted off to sleep, feeling calm and peaceful, ready for a wonderful night's rest.
