Luna the llama loved bedtime. But Luna *especially* loved her fuzzy, blue blanket. It was the softest blanket in the whole wide world, and she didn’t like to share it. Not even a little bit! Every night, Luna would snuggle with her blanket and say, “Mine, mine, all mine!”
One evening, Leo the lion cub came to visit. Leo was feeling a little sad because he couldn’t sleep without his mama. He saw Luna’s cozy blanket and asked, “Luna, could I maybe snuggle with your blanket for just a little while? I miss my mama’s warm hugs.”
Luna hugged her blanket tighter. “No!” she said. “It’s *my* blanket! You have your own blanket.” Leo’s ears drooped, and he looked very disappointed. He sat quietly in the corner, looking sad.
Old Man Fitzwilliam, the wise tortoise, was nearby. He slowly walked over to Luna. “Luna,” he said gently, “Sometimes, sharing something you love can make someone else feel very happy. And when you make others happy, it makes *you* feel happy too.”
Luna thought about what Old Man Fitzwilliam said. She looked at Leo, who was still looking sad. She took a deep breath and slowly unfolded a corner of her blue blanket. “Here, Leo,” she said softly. “You can snuggle with a little bit.”
Leo’s face lit up! He carefully snuggled into the soft blue blanket. “Thank you, Luna!” he said with a big smile. Luna felt a warm, fuzzy feeling inside. It felt even better than having the whole blanket to herself!
Luna and Leo snuggled together under the blanket, and soon, they were both feeling sleepy. Luna realized that sharing her blanket didn’t make her love it any less. It actually made bedtime even more fun!
Old Man Fitzwilliam smiled. He knew that Luna had learned a very important lesson. As Luna and Leo drifted off to sleep, Luna whispered, “Sharing is caring, and friends are the best!” And with that, they both dreamed sweet dreams under the cozy, blue blanket.
