Luna the Llama Learns to Relax at Bedtime

« Back to Topic

2 min read ・ Age 3

Luna the llama was a very bouncy llama. She loved to leap and play all day long! But when the sun began to set, and Mama Llama said, “It’s bedtime, Luna,” Luna would wiggle and giggle. “But I’m not tired!” she’d say.

Mama Llama smiled. “Even bouncy llamas need rest. Let’s do our bedtime routine. First, a warm bath with lavender bubbles!” Luna splashed and played, but the warm water *did* feel nice. Mama Llama gently washed Luna’s fluffy wool.

Next, Mama Llama read Luna a story about a sleepy sloth. The sloth yawned and stretched, and Luna felt her own eyelids getting heavy. “Now,” said Mama Llama, “let’s put on your pajamas.” Luna’s pajamas had little stars all over them.

Then came a warm cup of chamomile tea (not too hot, of course!). Luna sipped slowly, and it tasted sweet and calming. Mama Llama dimmed the lights and turned on a little nightlight shaped like a cloud.

“Now, Luna,” Mama Llama said softly, “let’s take three deep breaths. Breathe in… and breathe out… Breathe in… and breathe out… Breathe in… and breathe out…” Luna copied her mama, and her bouncy energy started to fade.

Mama Llama tucked Luna into her cozy bed. “Think of happy things, Luna. Think of sunshine and green grass and playing with your friends.” Luna closed her eyes and imagined all those wonderful things.

She remembered the warm bath, the sleepy sloth, and the sweet chamomile tea. She felt safe and loved and very, very sleepy. Soon, Luna wasn’t wiggling or giggling anymore. She was fast asleep, dreaming of bouncing among the stars.

Mama Llama kissed Luna’s forehead. “Sweet dreams, my little llama,” she whispered. And Luna slept soundly all through the night, ready for another bouncy day tomorrow. Remember, even bouncy llamas need their rest!
