Llama Llama loved his red pajamas. They were soft and cozy, and Mama Llama said they were perfect for bedtime. Tonight, Llama Llama was extra excited to wear them! He bounced and wiggled, showing Mama Llama his bright red pajamas.
But when Mama Llama said it was time for bed, Llama Llama felt a little wobble in his tummy. The room seemed a bit darker than usual. He peeked under his bed, just in case a little shadow monster was hiding. Nope, just dust bunnies!
“Mama,” Llama Llama said, his voice small. “I feel…funny.” Mama Llama gave Llama Llama a big, warm hug. “Funny how, little llama?” she asked gently.
“Like…like maybe I’m not so brave in my red pajamas,” Llama Llama confessed. He snuggled close to Mama Llama. Mama Llama smiled. “Oh, Llama Llama,” she said. “Your red pajamas are brave pajamas! They keep you warm and cozy, and *I* am always here to keep you safe.”
Mama Llama pointed to a little nightlight shaped like a star. “See that star? It shines all night long. And even when it’s dark, I’m right here.” She tucked Llama Llama in tightly, smoothing his red pajamas.
Llama Llama looked at the star, then at Mama Llama. He took a deep breath. He remembered all the bedtime stories Mama Llama read, and all the songs she sang. He remembered how much she loved him, and how safe he felt with her.
He wiggled his toes in his red pajamas. They *did* feel brave now! He closed his eyes and imagined himself having a wonderful dream, full of fluffy clouds and happy llamas.
“I love you, Mama,” Llama Llama whispered.
“I love you too, my sweet Llama,” Mama Llama replied, giving him one last gentle kiss. “Now close your eyes and drift off to sleep in your wonderful red pajamas.”
And Llama Llama, feeling safe, loved, and cozy, drifted off to sleep, dreaming sweet dreams in his bright red pajamas.
