Harry Hedgehog lived in a cozy burrow under a big oak tree. He loved collecting shiny pebbles and berries, but most of all, he loved bedtime!
One evening, Harry was preparing for bed. He had neatly arranged his tiny pebbles in a row and hummed a quiet tune as he tucked himself into his bed of soft moss.
Suddenly, he heard a tiny whimper. Peeking out of his burrow, he saw Pip, a little field mouse, shivering in the cold night air.
Pip had lost his way and couldn't find his nest. He was cold and scared. Harry, being the kind hedgehog he was, felt sorry for Pip.
Harry invited Pip into his warm burrow. 'Come in, come in!' he squeaked, offering Pip some extra moss to snuggle in.
Pip gratefully accepted and huddled close to Harry. Harry shared his berries with Pip, and they chatted quietly until Pip felt sleepy.
Harry told Pip stories about the stars and the moon, and how they watched over all the little creatures at night. Pip felt safe and warm in Harry's company.
Soon, both Harry and Pip were fast asleep, nestled together in the soft moss. Harry’s kindness had warmed not only Pip’s body but also his heart.
The next morning, the sun woke them. Pip, feeling refreshed and happy, thanked Harry for his help and promised to be more careful in the future.
Harry smiled. He felt happy knowing he'd helped Pip, and that a little kindness could make such a big difference. He knew getting a good night's sleep, especially when you're kind and helpful, was the best way to start a new day!
From that day on, Harry and Pip became the best of friends, often sharing stories and berries together, and always making sure they were both tucked into bed nice and early every night.
