Flicker was a little firefly with a very bright light. Brighter, he thought, than any other firefly in the whole meadow. He loved his light, and he loved to show it off. He'd zoom across the tall grass, flashing his bright glow, all for himself.
One night, Flicker noticed something sad. A tiny lost bunny was hopping around, whimpering softly. It was completely dark, and the bunny looked scared and alone.
Flicker felt a little twinge in his tummy. It wasn't a bad twinge, but a funny feeling, like a warm hug for his heart. He flew closer to the bunny, his light shining brightly.
The bunny looked up, its big eyes wide with surprise. Flicker blinked his light slowly, gently guiding the lost bunny. He thought about how scared he would be if he were lost in the dark. He decided to help.
Flicker flew ahead, his light a beacon in the night, showing the bunny the way back to its burrow. The bunny hopped happily behind him, its fear replaced by hope.
When they reached the burrow, the bunny snuggled into its mother's fur, letting out a happy squeak. Flicker felt a wonderful glow, even brighter than his light! He realized that sharing his light made him feel happier than showing it off ever could.
From that night on, Flicker continued to share his bright light with others. He guided lost insects, helped the sleepy owls find their nests, and lit the way for tiny beetles struggling to find their way home. He discovered that kindness and helping others brought the greatest joy.
And every night, as the stars twinkled above, Flicker's light shone even brighter, not just because of its natural glow, but because of the warmth and happiness in his heart. He learned that the best things in life are free – like kindness, friendship, and the joy of helping others.
