Danny the dinosaur was a very happy dinosaur. He loved to stomp and chomp and play! But most of all, Danny loved his sparkly rock. It was the shiniest, most wonderful rock in the whole wide world. He found it near the bubbly blue river and carried it *everywhere*.
One sunny morning, Danny was building a magnificent castle of mud with his friends, Rosie the Triceratops and Terry the Pterodactyl. “Look at my sparkly rock!” Danny said, holding it up high. Rosie and Terry gasped. “Wow, it *is* sparkly!” said Rosie. “Can we see it, Danny?” asked Terry.
Danny hugged his rock tightly. “Um… I’m using it for the very top of my castle,” he mumbled. He didn’t want to share! It was *his* sparkly rock. Rosie and Terry looked a little sad. They continued building their part of the castle, but Danny noticed they weren’t laughing as much as before.
Danny started to feel a little bit sad too. Building a castle wasn’t as fun when his friends weren’t happy. He looked at his sparkly rock, then at Rosie and Terry. He took a deep breath. “Here,” he said, carefully handing the rock to Rosie. “You can hold it for a turn.”
Rosie’s face lit up! She carefully placed the sparkly rock on the castle wall. “It looks amazing!” she exclaimed. Terry swooped down and added a leafy flag next to it. They all laughed and cheered. Danny realized something wonderful: sharing his sparkly rock made playing *even more* fun!
They took turns using the sparkly rock to decorate the castle, making it the most beautiful castle ever. When it was time to go home, Danny didn’t feel sad about sharing his rock. He felt happy! He learned that sharing with friends makes everything brighter.
That night, as Danny drifted off to sleep, he snuggled his sparkly rock close. He knew that even though it was special to him, it was even more special when he shared it with his friends. And that, thought Danny, was the best feeling of all. Sweet dreams!
