Barnaby was a little blue cube. Not a very exciting cube, he thought. He lived on a shelf with lots of other shapes – tall triangles, round circles, and long rectangles. They all seemed to *do* so much. The triangles built towers, the circles rolled and played, and the rectangles made perfect bridges. Barnaby just… sat. He wished he could do something special.
One night, Barnaby had a dream. He dreamed he was building the tallest tower in the world! But when he woke up, he felt small and silly. “How can *I*, a little cube, build a tower?” he sighed. He tried to stack himself on top of a triangle, but he kept tumbling off. He tried to be part of a rectangle’s bridge, but he was too short and wobbly.
A friendly red sphere, named Rosie, noticed Barnaby looking sad. “What’s wrong?” she asked, bouncing gently. Barnaby explained his dream and how he couldn’t seem to make it happen. Rosie smiled. “Building a tower all by yourself is hard! Maybe you need some help.”
Rosie rolled over to a group of triangles. “Excuse me,” she said, “Barnaby wants to build a tower, but he needs some stable bases. Could a few of you help?” The triangles were happy to help! They carefully arranged themselves into a strong foundation.
Next, Rosie asked a long rectangle to be a supporting beam. The rectangle happily stretched across the triangles. Then, Rosie carefully helped Barnaby climb onto the rectangle. It was a little wobbly, but much better than before!
But the tower still needed more height. A clever green pyramid suggested, “We can use smaller cubes! They’re perfect for filling in the gaps and making it taller.” Soon, other little cubes – yellow, orange, and purple – joined in, stacking carefully on top of Barnaby.
Slowly, slowly, the tower grew taller and taller. Barnaby felt so proud! He wasn’t building the tower *alone*, but he was a very important part of it. He was the starting point, the little blue cube that inspired everyone to work together.
Finally, the tower was finished! It wasn’t the tallest tower in the world, but it was the most beautiful tower Barnaby had ever seen. It was a tower built with friendship, perseverance, and a little bit of cube power. Barnaby realized that even a small cube could have a big dream, and with the help of friends, anything was possible.
As the stars twinkled outside the window, Barnaby snuggled close to Rosie. He wasn’t just a little blue cube anymore. He was Barnaby, the cube who helped build a dream. And that, he thought, was a very special thing indeed. Now close your eyes, little one, and dream your own big dreams. You are special too.
