Deep in the Whispering Woods, lived a little sloth named Sleepy. Sleepy loved bedtime, but even more, he loved watermelons. One night, as the fireflies blinked on, Sleepy stumbled upon something amazing – a watermelon so big, it looked like a tiny house!
It was bigger than Sleepy himself! He was amazed. He'd never seen anything so enormous. Sleepy was tempted to keep the giant watermelon all to himself. It was so juicy and sweet-smelling! He could eat it all by himself and have a fantastic, wonderful, delicious sleep all night.
But then, Sleepy remembered his friends, the little bunnies who lived near the Whispering Stream. They were always so kind to him, sharing their delicious clover with him. Sleepy’s tummy rumbled with a happy feeling. He suddenly knew what he had to do.
He carefully rolled the giant watermelon toward the stream. It was hard work, but Sleepy kept pushing, his little legs working hard. When he reached the bunnies, they were all surprised. Their eyes widened as they saw the gigantic watermelon!
‘Wow!’ cried Pip, the smallest bunny. ‘How did you find this?’ Sleepy explained how he found it and that he wanted to share it with all of them. The bunnies were overjoyed! They all gathered around and helped Sleepy cut the watermelon. Each bunny had a big, juicy slice, and Sleepy had one too.
They laughed and chatted as they enjoyed the sweet, refreshing treat together, under the twinkling fireflies. Sleepy felt so happy sharing his amazing discovery. The warm feeling in his heart made him sleep even better that night. He dreamt of even bigger watermelons and more friends to share them with.
The next morning, Sleepy woke up feeling refreshed. He learned that sharing his giant watermelon made him happier than keeping it all to himself. It made him feel so warm and fuzzy inside! He decided to bring some watermelon to all his other friends in the Whispering Woods.
And from that day on, Sleepy always remembered the lesson he learned about sharing and kindness. Sharing made his heart grow bigger than even the giant watermelon. And that’s why Sleepy always had the sweetest dreams at bedtime.
