Leo the Lion was a very sleepy lion cub. But tonight, he wasn’t sleepy *yet*. He wanted an adventure! “Mama,” he yawned, “Tell me a story about a bedtime adventure!” Mama Lion smiled. “Tonight, *you* will have a bedtime adventure, Leo. Close your eyes tight, and imagine a sparkly path leading to Dreamland.”
Leo squeezed his eyes shut. He imagined a path made of twinkling stars! As he walked, a little firefly named Flicker zipped by. “Hello!” buzzed Flicker. “To get to Dreamland, you must be brave enough to walk past the Whispering Woods. But listen carefully! Only follow the path with the blue flowers.”
Leo’s tummy felt a little fluttery. The Whispering Woods sounded…whispery! But he remembered Mama Lion saying brave lions always try new things. He took a deep breath and walked into the woods. The trees rustled and whispered, trying to trick him. “This way, Leo!” one tree seemed to say. But Leo remembered Flicker’s instructions.
He looked carefully and found the path with the bright blue flowers. It wasn’t easy! Sometimes the path curved and twisted, and the whispering trees tried to confuse him. But Leo kept his eyes on the blue flowers and kept walking. He believed he could find Dreamland, and that made him feel stronger.
Finally, Leo stepped out of the Whispering Woods and into Dreamland! It was even more wonderful than he imagined. Clouds were made of cotton candy, and rivers flowed with sparkling juice. Friendly dream creatures waved hello. He played with fluffy sheep and bounced on rainbow bridges.
After lots of fun, Flicker the firefly found Leo. “It’s time to go back now, little lion,” Flicker said gently. “Dreamland is lovely, but you need your rest.” Leo hugged Flicker goodbye and followed the sparkly path back home, remembering to follow the blue flowers.
He opened his eyes to see Mama Lion smiling down at him. “Did you have a good adventure, Leo?” she asked. Leo snuggled close. “The best adventure ever!” he whispered. He learned that even when things seem a little scary, being brave and believing in yourself can take you to wonderful places. And with that, Leo the Lion drifted off to sleep, dreaming of blue flowers and sparkly paths.
