Willow the Water Sprite and the Thirsty Flowers

Willow was a tiny water sprite, no bigger than a bumblebee. She lived in a sparkling dewdrop on a big, green leaf. Willow’s job was to keep the leaf clean and shiny, and she loved to splash and play in the water. She thought water was the most wonderful thing in the whole wide world, and she had plenty of it!

One sunny morning, Willow noticed something wasn’t right. The flowers at the bottom of the leaf were drooping. Their petals were sad and wilted, and their colors were fading. “What’s wrong?” she buzzed, flitting down to a bright red poppy.

“We’re so thirsty!” sighed the poppy. “The sun has been very strong, and we haven’t had a drop of water all day.” Willow looked around. She had a whole dewdrop full of water, enough for her to splash in for hours. But these flowers *needed* it.

Willow hesitated. She loved playing in her water. It was so much fun! But seeing the sad, drooping flowers made her feel a little sad too. She remembered what her grandmother, the oldest water sprite in the garden, always said: “A little kindness can make a big difference.”

Taking a deep breath, Willow began to carefully carry tiny drops of water from her dewdrop to the thirsty flowers. She used a petal as a little slide, letting the water trickle down to the roots. It took a long time, and it was hard work, but Willow didn’t give up.

Slowly, the flowers began to perk up. Their petals lifted, and their colors became brighter. The poppy smiled at Willow. “Thank you,” she said. “You saved us!” Other flowers chimed in, thanking Willow for her kindness.

Willow felt a warm glow inside. It felt even better than splashing and playing! She realized that sharing her water hadn’t made her less happy; it had made her *more* happy. She still had enough water to play with, and now she had made some new friends.

From that day on, Willow made it her responsibility to share her water with all the flowers on the leaf. She learned that helping others wasn’t just a job, it was a joy. And as she drifted off to sleep in her sparkling dewdrop, she knew that even the smallest water sprite could make a big difference in the world, one drop at a time.
