Little Cloud's Journey: A Bedtime Story About Water

Little Cloud was a fluffy, white cloud who loved to float in the big blue sky. He wasn't like the other clouds who rushed to make big thunderstorms. Little Cloud liked to make gentle rain, just enough to tickle the leaves and fill the puddles. He wondered where the water went after it fell.

One day, Little Cloud made a tiny raindrop. The raindrop tumbled down, down, down and landed on a bright red flower. “Hello!” said the raindrop. “I’m going on a journey!” The flower smiled. “I’m glad you visited me. You helped me grow big and strong!”

The raindrop trickled down the flower’s petals and into the soil. It met a busy little worm. “Excuse me,” said the raindrop. “Where are you going?” The worm wiggled. “I’m helping the roots of the flower drink! You’re helping too!”

The raindrop traveled with the water through the roots, up the stem, and all around the flower. Then, it flowed into a little stream. The stream giggled as it rushed along, carrying the raindrop towards a bigger river. “So many friends!” thought the raindrop.

The river flowed and flowed, past green trees and happy animals, until it reached the wide, sparkling sea. The raindrop joined all the other water, splashing and playing with the waves. It felt so good to be part of something so big!

Little Cloud watched from above. He saw the sun warm the sea, and tiny bubbles of water rise up, up, up into the sky. They became… more little clouds! Little Cloud smiled. He understood now. The water didn’t disappear; it just changed and went on a wonderful journey, again and again.

He made another gentle raindrop, knowing it would help someone, somewhere, and eventually come back home to him. It was a beautiful cycle, and Little Cloud was happy to be a part of it. Now close your eyes, little one, and dream of water’s journey too. Sweet dreams.
