Tommy was a little blue truck, and he loved his job! Every day, he drove around Sunny Valley, delivering toys to all the little children. He was very proud of being a delivery truck, and he wanted to do *everything* himself. “I can do it! I can do it!” he’d chug, puffing out little clouds of exhaust.
One sunny morning, Old Man Tiber, the toy shop owner, gave Tommy a *very* big delivery. It wasn’t just a few teddy bears or building blocks. Oh no! It was a whole wagon full of shiny red fire trucks, fluffy purple unicorns, and even a giant, wobbly dinosaur! Tommy’s engine sputtered. This was the biggest delivery he’d ever had.
“I can do it!” Tommy insisted, even though the wagon felt incredibly heavy. He started up the hill towards Lily’s house, but the wagon wobbled and swayed. He strained and chugged, but he was going very slowly. He passed Rosie the red pickup truck and Barnaby the big dump truck.
“Need a little help, Tommy?” Rosie called out cheerfully. Tommy shook his grill. “No, thank you! I can do it myself!” He continued up the hill, but the wagon was getting heavier and heavier. He started to feel wobbly too!
Suddenly, *bump!* The wagon hit a rock, and a pile of toys tumbled out! The dinosaur rolled almost all the way back down the hill! Tommy felt his wheels wobble with sadness. He *couldn’t* do it all himself. His faceplate felt hot with embarrassment.
Barnaby and Rosie quickly drove over. “Looks like you could use a hand,” Barnaby said kindly. Tommy, feeling a little ashamed, nodded. “I… I tried to do it all myself, but it was too much.”
Rosie and Barnaby easily helped Tommy reload the wagon. Rosie pulled from the front, and Barnaby pushed from behind. Together, they zoomed up the hill! It was so much easier, and much more fun!
They delivered all the toys to Lily and her friends, and Tommy felt a warm glow in his engine. It wasn’t about doing everything alone; it was about working together. “Thank you,” Tommy said to Rosie and Barnaby. “I learned that it’s okay to ask for help.”
Old Man Tiber smiled when he heard what happened. “That’s right, Tommy,” he said. “Even the strongest trucks need a little help sometimes. Teamwork makes the dream work!” Tommy chugged happily, knowing he was a good little truck, especially when he had his friends by his side. Now close your eyes, little one, and dream of helpful trucks and happy deliveries.
