Little Trucks Go to Sleep: A Bedtime Story

« Back to Topic

2 min read ・ Age 3

Under the big, sleepy moon, the truck yard was getting quiet. All the big trucks, and the little trucks too, were finishing their day's work. Little Blue Truck had helped Farmer Giles move some soft hay. Dump Truck Doug had finished hauling the last load of gravel. Mixer Max had spun his drum clean after mixing concrete all day.

Little Blue Truck yawned. "Being helpful is fun, but it makes me a little tired," he whispered to the bright stars beginning to twinkle above. Dump Truck Doug rumbled slowly past, his big tires soft on the ground. "Me too, Little Blue," he said with a gentle sigh. "It's time for sleepy-time parking."

First, it was time for a wash. Little Blue Truck rolled under the big water spray. Swish, swish! The water tickled his headlights and washed away the dust from the day. Dump Truck Doug and Mixer Max lined up too, waiting for their turn to get clean and sparkling before bed. Looking clean felt nice and fresh.

After the wash, each truck slowly rolled into their own special parking spot in the quiet yard. Little Blue Truck found his spot right next to a friendly old oak tree. Mixer Max parked beside him, and Dump Truck Doug found his usual space near the big fence. Everyone knew where they belonged for the night.

One by one, the trucks settled down. They turned off their loud engines and let their lights dim. No more beeping horns or rumbling wheels. Just the soft sounds of the night wind rustling the leaves in the oak tree. Little Blue Truck snuggled down into his parking spot, feeling safe and sound.

He closed his little blue eyes. He thought about the helpful things he did today and felt happy. Dump Truck Doug was already letting out soft, sleepy rumbles. Mixer Max was completely still, ready for dreams. Soon, all the trucks in the yard were quiet, recharging for a brand new day tomorrow. Goodnight, trucks. Sleep tight!
