Sleepytime Story of the Gentle Moon Watching Over Bedtime

2 min read ・ Age 4

Little Pip was tucked into bed, snug as a bug. The room was dim and quiet, just the way she liked it for sleeping. Her favorite blanket was pulled right up to her chin, and her eyes were starting to feel heavy. Outside, the world was getting ready for nighttime too.

Pip looked towards her window. Through the glass, she saw a soft, silver light. It was the moon! Tonight, the moon looked like a big, round friendly face, shining down from the dark sky. It wasn't a bright, sunny light like the sun, but a gentle, sleepy kind of glow.

The moon seemed so far away, high up above the houses and the trees. Pip wondered what the moon saw up there. Did it see the little rabbits hopping quietly in the garden? Did it see the owls blinking their big eyes? Did it see all the other children getting ready for bed?

The moon didn't say a word, but its quiet light felt like a soft hug. It made the dark outside feel a little less dark and a lot more peaceful. It was like the moon was a friendly guardian, watching over everyone while they slept. Its light painted silver stripes on the floor of Pip's room.

Pip lifted a sleepy hand and gave a little wave towards the moon. "Goodnight, Moon," she whispered softly. She imagined the moon smiling down at her, sending sleepy dust with its gentle rays. The quiet presence of the moon made her feel safe and calm.

She snuggled deeper into her blanket. The moon's soft light seemed to tuck itself around her too, like an extra cozy layer. The peaceful feeling in the room grew stronger, helped by the quiet moon in the sky. Her eyelids felt heavier and heavier.

Soon, Pip wasn't wondering about the moon anymore. She was just feeling its gentle light and the sleepy quiet. The moon kept its silent watch as Pip closed her eyes, breathing softly, drifting, drifting into a sweet, moonlit sleep, feeling safe and loved.
