Pip the puppy loved bedtime, but he loved looking at the stars even more! Every night, after his dinner of yummy kibble, Pip would sit by the window and gaze up at the twinkling lights in the dark sky.
One night, as he looked at the sparkly stars, Pip wondered, "What are those tiny lights? Are they tiny suns?" He wagged his tail, so excited to find out!
His human, Lily, saw Pip's excitement. She gently picked him up and said, "Those are stars, Pip! They're giant balls of fire, so far away they look tiny."
Lily pointed to a group of stars that looked like a big dipper. "See that, Pip? That's a constellation. People have looked at the stars for centuries and imagined shapes in them."
Pip imagined the stars were playful fireflies, dancing in the night. He pictured a big, friendly bear made of stars and a tiny, sparkly dog just like him!
Lily told Pip stories about the stars. She said that some people make wishes on shooting stars, hoping their dreams will come true. Pip closed his eyes, imagining his wish for extra belly rubs coming true.
Pip snuggled close to Lily, feeling warm and cozy. He knew that even though the stars were far away, they were still magical and beautiful. They made him feel happy and sleepy.
As Lily sang a gentle lullaby, Pip drifted off to sleep, dreaming of chasing fireflies made of stars across a giant, fluffy cloud. He knew tomorrow would bring new adventures, but for now, he was content to sleep under the watchful twinkle of the stars.
And as you close your eyes tonight, little one, remember Pip's adventure and look up at the stars. Maybe you'll see your own wish come true in a sparkling dream.
