Once upon a time, high above the world, lived a tiny snowflake named Lumi. Lumi wasn't like the other snowflakes. They were big and fluffy, ready to tumble down and make a grand, white blanket. Lumi was…small. Really small. She worried she wouldn’t be able to contribute to the beautiful snowfalls.
“I’m too little,” Lumi sighed to a passing cloud. “I won’t make a difference. I’ll just melt before I even reach the ground!” The cloud, a kind and gentle one, chuckled softly. “Every snowflake is important, Lumi. Even the smallest one. You’ll see.”
But Lumi still felt sad as she began her journey downwards. She floated past birds building nests, and trees preparing for winter. She watched the bigger snowflakes dance and swirl, covering everything in a sparkling white coat. Lumi tried to join them, but she was blown this way and that by the wind.
Suddenly, Lumi spotted a little robin, shivering on a bare branch. The robin’s feathers were ruffled, and it looked very cold. The bigger snowflakes were falling further away, and the robin was all alone. Lumi knew she couldn’t cover the robin like a big snowflake, but she could *try* to help.
Lumi fluttered closer and landed gently on the robin’s head. It wasn’t much, but it was enough to shield the robin’s head from a particularly chilly gust of wind. The robin chirped happily. “Thank you, little snowflake!” it sang. “You’re very kind.”
More and more tiny snowflakes, seeing Lumi’s kindness, gathered around the robin, creating a small, cozy halo of snow. It wasn’t a huge blanket, but it was perfect for the little bird. Soon, the bigger snowflakes noticed and began to fall closer, adding to the warmth.
Lumi realized the cloud was right. She *did* make a difference! She didn’t need to be big and fluffy to be important. Her small act of kindness had started something wonderful. She felt a warm glow, even as she began to melt a little.
As Lumi melted, she became a tiny drop of water, soaking into the branch and helping the robin stay warm. She understood that even when things change, you can still be helpful and kind.
