Sammy the snake was a very happy snake. He loved living in the warm meadow, and his very favorite thing was his special sunny rock. It was the perfect temperature for a sleepy snake nap! Every morning, Sammy would wiggle and slide his way to the rock, curling up happily in the sunshine.
One day, as Sammy was enjoying his rock, he saw Rosie the rabbit hopping nearby. Rosie looked a little sad. “What’s wrong, Rosie?” Sammy asked, tilting his head.
Rosie sighed. “It’s just… it’s a bit chilly, and I wish I had a warm spot to rest. But all the good spots are taken!” Sammy looked at his warm rock, then back at Rosie. He’d *never* shared his rock before. It was *his* special spot.
Then, Barnaby the bear cub wandered by, looking sleepy too. “Oh dear,” he mumbled. “I need a nap, but the ground is cold.” Sammy felt a little wiggle of worry. Two friends wanting a warm spot? His rock wasn’t very big.
Sammy thought for a moment. He remembered how much fun he had playing hide-and-seek with Rosie and Barnaby yesterday. He remembered how Barnaby had helped him find his favorite berry patch. He realized having friends was even better than having a warm rock all to himself.
“You can both share my rock!” Sammy announced. Rosie and Barnaby’s faces lit up. They carefully snuggled close to Sammy on the warm rock. It *was* a little crowded, but it was also… cozy!
Rosie leaned against Sammy, and Barnaby rested his head on Rosie. Sammy felt a warm glow, and it wasn’t just from the sun. It was the warm glow of friendship. He realized sharing his special spot made it even more special.
