Lily and Rose: A Sweet Bedtime Story About Sisters

« Back to Topic

2 min read ・ Age 4

Lily and Rose were sisters, and they loved to play together. Lily loved building tall towers with her colorful blocks, and Rose loved drawing pictures of sparkly unicorns. Most of the time, they had wonderful fun!

But sometimes, Lily and Rose would disagree. One evening, Lily was building a magnificent castle, and Rose wanted to use the blue blocks for her unicorn’s rainbow mane. “No!” said Lily. “These are for my castle walls!” Rose’s lip trembled. “But blue is the best color for rainbows!”

They argued and argued, and soon, Lily knocked over Rose’s unicorn drawing by accident. Rose started to cry. “You ruined my unicorn!” she wailed. Lily felt terrible. She hadn’t meant to knock it over, and now her sister was very sad.

Their mama came into the room. She didn’t scold them. Instead, she sat down and said, “Sometimes, sisters disagree. But even when you’re upset, remember how much you love each other.” She gave Lily and Rose a gentle hug.

Lily looked at Rose’s tear-stained face. “I’m sorry I knocked over your drawing, Rose,” she said softly. “And I didn’t mean to be so grumpy about the blocks.” Rose sniffled. “I’m sorry I wanted your blue blocks so badly. Your castle is very pretty.”

Lily had an idea! “Let’s build the castle *and* the rainbow together!” she exclaimed. Rose’s face lit up. They carefully rebuilt the castle, and then they used the blue blocks to create a beautiful rainbow arching over the castle walls. It was even more magical than before!

Rose drew a tiny unicorn standing proudly in front of the castle. Lily and Rose giggled, happy to be playing together again. They learned that even when they disagree, working together and being kind to each other makes everything better.

Mama tucked them into bed, and Lily and Rose held hands. “I love you, Lily,” Rose whispered. “I love you too, Rose,” Lily replied. And as they drifted off to sleep, they knew that their sisterly love was the most wonderful thing in the world.
