Lily didn't like the rain. When the first drops began to fall, she'd scrunch her face and pull her blanket tighter. The drumming on her window sounded like a grumpy monster, she thought.
One evening, as the rain poured down outside, Lily’s mom brought her a warm cup of milk and snuggled beside her. "Listen," Mom whispered, "Don't you think the rain sounds like a lullaby?"
Lily listened carefully. At first, she still heard the grumpy monster. But then, she noticed something else. The rain sounded like tiny feet dancing on the roof, pitter-patter, pitter-patter. It sounded like secrets being whispered on the windowpane.
Mom pointed to the window. "Look," she said, "The raindrops are making the world sparkle!"
Lily peered out. The streetlights reflected in the puddles, making them shimmer like tiny, magical pools. She had never noticed that before. The rain transformed the world into a glistening wonderland.
The next day, after the rain stopped, Lily discovered something amazing. In the garden, a little rainbow appeared between two trees. It was so vibrant and colorful, it looked like a magical gateway to somewhere else.
She also found a tiny snail, slowly making its way across a newly formed puddle, leaving a shimmering trail behind it. It was small but such a magnificent sight. The rain had brought something beautiful to life!
That night, as the rain started falling again, Lily didn't scrunch up her face. Instead, she smiled. She snuggled under her blanket and listened to the dancing feet on the roof and the whispering secrets on the windowpane. She even imagined the snail venturing on a new journey with each drop of rain.
The rain wasn't a grumpy monster anymore. It was a magical friend bringing shiny puddles, rainbows and tiny adventures. And as she drifted off to sleep, Lily knew that even the things she used to fear could be beautiful if she just listened closely enough.
The sound of the rain became her new favorite lullaby, a gentle reminder that even in the midst of stormy weather, there's always something beautiful to discover. And when she woke up, Lily loved the way the garden sparkled with rainwater, a true testament to nature's magical power.
