Once upon a time, nestled in a warm little house, lived three fluffy kittens: Pip, Squeak, and Luna. It was a very snowy night, and the wind howled outside. Pip had bright red mittens, Squeak had cozy blue ones, and Luna had cheerful yellow mittens. They loved their mittens more than anything!
“My mittens are the best!” chirped Pip, batting at a snowflake with his red mitten. “They keep my paws so warm!” Squeak and Luna agreed, wiggling their paws happily. They decided to build a snowman in the garden, but the snow was very deep and cold.
As they tried to roll the bottom snowball, they realized it was much harder than they thought. Pip’s mittens kept slipping, Squeak’s paws got chilly, and Luna couldn’t quite push hard enough. They started to grumble. “This is too hard!” cried Pip. “My mittens aren’t helping!”
Suddenly, they heard a tiny squeak. It was Millie, the little mouse, shivering outside. “I… I can’t reach the seeds Mrs. Gable put out for the birds,” she whispered. “The snow is too deep, and my little paws are freezing.”
Pip, Squeak, and Luna looked at each other. They had been so focused on their own snowman, they hadn’t noticed Millie was cold and needed help. Luna had an idea! “Let’s use our mittens to make a path for Millie!” she suggested.
Pip, Squeak, and Luna carefully used their mittens to scoop away the snow, creating a little pathway to the bird feeder. It wasn’t easy, and they had to work together, pushing and scooping as a team. Pip used his red mittens to clear a wide path, Squeak’s blue mittens helped smooth the way, and Luna’s yellow mittens made sure it was sturdy.
Millie scurried happily along the path, reaching the seeds just in time for a tasty snack. “Oh, thank you, kittens!” she squeaked gratefully. “You are so kind!”
The kittens felt a warm glow inside, even warmer than their mittens! They realized helping Millie was much more fun than building a snowman all by themselves. They finished making a small snowman, but this time, they worked together, sharing their mittens and helping each other.
As the snow continued to fall, Pip, Squeak, and Luna snuggled close, their mittens keeping their paws toasty warm. They learned that sharing and helping others made even a cold winter night feel cozy and bright. And that, they all agreed, was the best feeling of all.
