Poppy the peach was getting ready for bed. She lived on a big, green tree with all her fruity friends. Tonight, she felt a little bit sad. Barnaby the blueberry hadn’t come to play all day!
Poppy’s mama said, “Why the long face, sweetie?” Poppy explained about Barnaby. “Maybe he’s just busy,” Mama Peach said with a warm smile. “But a little kindness can brighten anyone’s day. Why don’t you take Barnaby a little bedtime snack?”
Poppy carefully picked a tiny, juicy slice of herself and put it on a little leaf. She rolled the leaf carefully, like a tiny scroll, and went to find Barnaby. Barnaby lived under a big, shady leaf near the strawberry patch.
When Poppy found Barnaby, he was looking very glum. “What’s wrong, Barnaby?” Poppy asked gently. Barnaby sighed. “I tried to build a tower with the raspberries, but it kept falling down! I felt like I wasn’t very good at building.”
Poppy smiled. “Building can be tricky! But you’re very good at being a friend. And look what I brought you – a little peach slice for a sweet dream!” Barnaby’s face lit up. “Wow, Poppy! Thank you! That’s so kind of you.”
Barnaby took a tiny bite. “Mmm, delicious! It makes me feel much better.” Poppy and Barnaby sat together under the leaf, talking about their day. Poppy told Barnaby about learning to wiggle her leaf in the breeze, and Barnaby told Poppy about the funny shapes the raspberries made when they tumbled.
Soon, the stars began to twinkle. “It’s bedtime for us now,” Poppy yawned. “Thank you for sharing your peach slice, Poppy,” Barnaby said. “And thank you for being such a good friend.”
Poppy and Barnaby waved goodnight and snuggled into their leaves. They both knew that even when things felt a little bit wobbly, a good friend and a healthy snack could make everything better. They drifted off to sleep, dreaming of sweet fruit and happy adventures. Remember, little one, sharing kindness is the sweetest treat of all!
Close your eyes now, and dream of all the wonderful fruits and friends around you. Sweet dreams!
