Finley was a little dolphin who loved to play in the warm, blue ocean. He zoomed and twirled, making bubbly rings with his nose. But sometimes, Finley felt a little shy. He wanted to play with the other dolphins, but he worried they wouldn’t want to play with *him*.
One sunny morning, Finley saw Coral, a smaller dolphin, looking very sad. Coral had lost her favorite seashell, a beautiful pink one that shimmered in the sunlight. She searched and searched, but it was nowhere to be found.
Finley felt a little nervous, but he knew he had to help. He swam over to Coral and asked, “What’s wrong?” Coral explained about her lost seashell, and her little dolphin face was full of tears.
“Don’t worry, Coral,” Finley said, trying to sound brave. “I’ll help you find it!” Finley and Coral began to search together. They looked under seaweed, around colorful coral reefs, and even asked a grumpy old sea turtle if he had seen it.
The sea turtle grumbled, “I haven’t seen any seashells! Now leave me to my nap!” Finley and Coral didn’t give up. They kept searching, and finally, Finley spotted something pink glinting in the sand.
“Coral, look!” he shouted. There it was! Coral’s beautiful pink seashell! Coral was so happy, she did a little flip in the water. “Thank you, Finley!” she squealed. “You’re the best friend a dolphin could ask for!”
Finley felt a warm glow inside. Helping Coral felt even better than zooming and twirling! He realized that being kind and helping others wasn’t scary at all. It made him feel happy and strong.
From that day on, Finley and Coral were the best of friends. They played together every day, and Finley wasn’t shy anymore. He learned that being a good friend meant being kind, helpful, and brave enough to reach out to others.
As the sun began to set, painting the ocean with orange and purple, Finley and Coral snuggled close together. Finley closed his eyes, dreaming of more adventures with his new friend. And you, little one, close your eyes too, and dream sweet dreams of kindness and friendship.
