2 min read ・ Age 4

Chirp! Chirp! Little Pip was a tiny bird with bright yellow feathers. He lived in a cozy nest nestled high in a big oak tree. Every day, Pip would fly out to find yummy worms and juicy berries.

But as the sun dipped below the horizon, painting the sky in fiery hues of orange and purple, Pip felt a little bit scared. The world grew quiet, and the shadows stretched long and spooky.

‘What if something bad happens in the dark?’ Pip worried, his little heart fluttering like a hummingbird's wings.

Pip's wise old mother bird, perched beside him, gently chirped, "My little one, the night is a time for rest and dreams. Just close your eyes, and let the gentle sounds of the forest lull you to sleep."

Pip tried, but his little heart raced. He missed the happy calls of his friends, the sun's warm glow on his feathers. He missed the familiar sight of his home.

His mother ruffled his feathers, a comforting gesture. "See the moon? It's like a giant light in the sky, watching over us all. Trust in the darkness, Pip. It's not a scary place, it's a time to dream."

Pip listened to his mother's gentle words. He closed his eyes, taking a deep breath. He listened to the gentle rustling of leaves, the hooting of an owl, and the soft whispering of the breeze. Slowly, a sense of calm washed over him.

He thought of all the yummy worms he’d found, the cheerful calls of his friends, and the warmth of his nest. He imagined a bright, wonderful dream, filled with friendly faces and tasty treats.

He pictured the moon watching over him, a comforting light. He felt safe and secure, snuggled in his comfy nest.

Pip closed his eyes tightly and drifted off to sleep, a happy little chirrup escaping his throat. He’d learned that even the darkness could bring comfort, if you just trusted it. He learned that patience and trust could bring a good night's sleep.

The moon shone brightly, watching over Pip and all the little creatures in the big oak tree. And Pip knew, deep in his heart, that night could be a wonderful time, filled with dreams and rest.
