Benny the Banana was a very happy banana. He lived with his banana family in a bright yellow bunch! Every day was fun, but Benny’s favorite part of the day was bedtime. Bedtime meant snuggles and sweet dreams.
But tonight, Benny was a little bit wiggly. “I don’t want to sleep!” he said. “I want to play! I want to swing from the bunch!” Mama Banana smiled. “Benny, even bananas need rest. It’s time for our bedtime routine.”
First, Benny had a warm banana bath with bubbly banana soap. It smelled like sunshine and happiness! Then, Papa Banana read Benny a story about a little banana boat sailing on a sea of orange juice. Benny giggled and snuggled closer.
Next, it was time for a banana hug! Mama Banana and Papa Banana gave Benny the biggest, warmest hug. “We love you very much, Benny,” they said. Benny felt so safe and loved. He hugged them back, squeezing tight.
“Now,” said Mama Banana, “let’s close our peels and take three deep breaths.” Benny closed his peel-eyes and breathed in… and out… and in… and out. He felt his wiggles start to disappear.
“Being a banana is wonderful,” Benny thought. “I’m a bright yellow, happy banana, and I’m loved very much.” He smiled a sleepy banana smile. He realized that resting helped him grow big and strong, ready for another day of fun.
Soon, Benny was fast asleep, dreaming of banana boats and warm hugs. He dreamt he was floating on a cloud made of banana pudding! He was so peaceful and calm.
Mama and Papa Banana tucked Benny in and whispered, “Sweet dreams, little banana.” And Benny, the happy banana, slept soundly all through the night, knowing he was loved and ready for a brand new day.
